Here it is a race controversy that America has been asking for. I've been hearing cable news reporters and interviewers asking for an honest and open race discussion in America. Well here is the chance for that discussion-- presented on a silver platter. The "chance for discussion" I am referring to is the story of the Harvard Professor arrested in his own home after being a suspected burglar of the home. The story is making headlines, partially (or mainly) because President Obama gave his opinion on the matter. The statement Obama made has been appearing on late night television shows because many feel the President made a mistake by saying the police department made a stupid decision for arresting the Harvard Professor. The Harvard Professor is a black man and he says the Police department only arrested him because he is black, which is racial profiling...
So, many people are speaking out on this issue, (mainly the people who we saw on T.V. during the election season, & of course my fav. Mr. Bill O'Reilly is a jerk) giving their opinion on the matter. Mainly, they are saying the President jumped the gun and should not have said what he said. Me, I think the police officer was wrong for arresting the black man, because the man told the officer he was a Harvard Professor (that should stand for something-- I'm pretty sure with that title, there is some type of noble reputation carried with it). So then, maybe the President wasn't wrong for making his statement. The bigger picture though, is that the President is making the situation smooth by having a couple of brewsky's with the two men to relieve tension. That's that Obama swag....
By the way, the charges were dropped against the Professor.
Is it racial profiling?
